error in installing Office 2016

Hi,

I had to install a new Win in my laptop that crashed, so I downgraded from Win 10 to the original Win that I bought it with: Win 8.1 (BTW, is there any way to get Win 10 again for free? I liked it)

Now I am trying to reinstall Office 2016 from the site (https://office.com/myaccount) and I get the same error every time: the program cannot be installed, error api-ms-win-crt-runtime-1-0.dll

Could you please tell me what that means? Is it an Office error or that Win has not been properly installed (by a technician), or...?

I would appreciate any help. I thank you very much

    Hi,

To assist you with the issue, the error message indicates that your Universal C Runtime (CRT) in Windows 8.1 is not up-to-date. You can download the update on this link. If you are using the same operating system with the same product key, you can still go back to Windows 10. But if you have a different product key for your Windows 8.1, you can still install Windows 10 but you need to pay for the new product key.
