Is it possible to share a document in SharePoint Online using a SharePoint group and to also indicate that everyone in that group receive an email invitation?

    Hi Sandy4856,

We can share documents with a SharePoint group by typing the group name in the Share dialog as the picture shows below.

If there is anythig misunderstood, please feel free to post back.

    Regards,

    Linda

It doesn't seem to be working for me, when I try to share a document with a SharePoint group the Share button is disabled.

Any thoughts as to why this might be?

    Thanks!

Also, I have another question.  I have provided full control access to someone on an individual site (they are not also an Admin on the collection).  If I put their email in the access request settings should they be able to respond to sharing requests?  This doesn't seem to be working, full control includes manage permissions so I'm not sure why they are being told they don't have the rights to do this.  Thanks again!

    Hi Sandy4856,

According to your description, I suggest you check the Access Requests Settings and make sure you select Allow members to share the site and individual files and folders then try sharing files to members again. If the option is disabled, every member in the site cannot share the site or files.

If the issue persists, I would like to confirm the following information to clarify the issue:

    1. A screenshot of the sharing page where the Share button disabled.
    2. Do all SharePoint groups have the same issue or just the specific one?
    3. A screenshot of the affected group settings. To check it, go to Site settings > People and Groups > select the affected group > Settings > Group settings.

Regarding the other question, the mails you put in the access request are used to let those users receive notification email when someone requests access to the site. Users as site collection administrators can approve access requests. If a user only has full control permission on this site, s/he doesn’t have permission to perform this action.

More information can be found in Set up access requests section in the following article:

Set up and manage access requests

    Regards,

    Linda
