Office 16 File Save Problem

I have an MSI Laptop running Windows 10 version 1511 (OS Build 10568.420). I have installed Office 2016 (several times) version: 16.0.7070.2022. I do not use OneDrive and all files are stored on a data drive. Both Windows and Office have all available updates installed.

The problem is that intermittently, when I save documents in Word (I haven't used excel yet), I get a BSOD with the message "machine_check_exception". The computer then reboots.  This can happen before I even get to insert a document name or at any time during the save process. As some documents are short I have changed autosave down to as low as 1 minute. Once I restart and get Word up again there is no recovery files available or they have 0kb. This is entirely random, but only occurs during the save process.

I tried running the quick repair tool (from within install/change software in control panel) and this didn't fix the problem. I also tried to run the online repair tool but each time I did, it removed Office from the installed applications list.

I have done a lot of searching on the net and found that there was an initial problem with Windows 10/Office 16 combination which I believe should have been fixed in the version I have.

After spending 2 days rebuilding my laptop and having the exact same issue I think I must  be missing something. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Update 2. 28/07/16

Well good folks, after updating all my drivers I found I still had the original issue. Word locks up even during autosave function and reboots with the same machine_checksum_error message on reboot.

So I have now rebuilt my machine again (5th time) and loaded all driver updates etc before installing MS Office. The first time today I needed to use Word again. The issue is still here and I am rapidly running out of ideas. It is only during the save function that I seem to have a problem. Must say I am rather disenchanted at this stage.

I have finally worked out the problem I had with being unable to install Office 2007. So I have now installed this and been using it for a couple of days. The issue seems to have gone away.

So to me this narrows the problem down to being unique to Office 16. I would still like to fix this as after purchasing Office 16, I would like to be able to use it. I am also talking to the Notebook manufacturer to see if they have a solution.

    Outlook error;

Might depend on both type of mail account being added and the account provider

    Update

Updated all drivers and made sure all MS updates were applied. Word performed and saved without issue the first time it was used. It was being used again last night and had the same issue after working fine for 5 documents. However this time it started to apply a windows update when it rebooted. So I am unsure if the update has caused the issue or whether I still have the problem. I will know more tonight.

One extra issue that has come to light is that when you try to add an account in Outlook and you use the advanced settings to input ports and security etc, if you use the test account settings button, Outlook displays a message saying it has stopped working and needs to restart. If you do not test the settings and allow Outlook to test them when you click the next button, it all works fine.

A "machine_check_exception" is a hardware error/problem and not a software/MS Office issue, possibly driver related

I don't understand how a driver is only affecting saving in Word. All the other Office products (and other loaded software) appear to have no issue. Does Word save files in a different way to others?

    Update

Well I have spent a deal of time today making sure all the drivers are up to date.  Out of all of them I only had about 6 which required updating. Used Word tonight and did not have any issues. So hopefully the problem might have gone away.

Thanks for the point in the right direction.
