Hello,
Did my screen shots help zero in on the defect?
Thank you.

I am working with MS Word 2010 version 14.0.7172.500 (64-bit) on a work machine running Windows XP Professional.
I am attempting to align objects relative to each other however it is not working if the objects are inside of a drawing canvas. When the objects are in a drawing canvas all of the align options are grayed out except for Align to Paper and Align to Margin.
However, if I take those same objects, cut them from the drawing canvas and just paste them to the page, then all the alignment options become available.
I don't have this problem with an older version of word that I have at home. Is there some setting that disables alignment inside a canvas or is this a defect with 2010?
Thank you.

Hello Patil
Here is a screen shot of the problem:
If I select two shapes that are inside of a drawing canvas, then the object align functionality is not available.
However, if I remove the drawing canvas and just add the shapes to the page, then align object functionality becomes available (as illustrated below).
