My excel ribbon occasionally goes blank. I cannot manipulate any cells, I can only move the cursor to close the application. We have updated the video drivers to the latest version and the problem still persists. Is there any solution to this problem?

    Hi,

    Thanks for your response.

Let’s refer to the following steps to disable Hardware Acceleration in Excel and check how it works.

    1. Click the File tab.
    2. Click on Options. And Click on Advanced tab.
    3. Under Display, select the Disable hardware graphics accelerationcheck box.
    4. Click Ok and verify the results.

Hope it helps. Try the suggestion and let us know the result at your earliest convenience.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

I'm getting the same problem. This issue only happens during high use of Excel but it seems to be also affecting Powerpoint. These issues are affecting multiple computers after doing a fresh install of Windows 10. Here is the list of stuff I have tried to do to resolve this issue:

    • Reinstalled office
    • Updated Graphics Drivers
    • Running it as an Administrator
    • Made sure Windows and Office was up to date
    • Disabled any 3rd party add-ins on Excel

Sadly none of the above has worked. I have attached a screenshot of the ribbon disappearing.

    Hi Christopher,

A quick question before we proceed.

Is the issue specific to Excel? What happens with other Office applications?

Let’s restart the computer and then open the Excel in Safe Mode again and check if it helps.

To do that, press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.

In the Run open box type in ‘Excel /Safe’ and hit ok.

Note: There is a space between Excel and /.

If application safe mode works, try disabling the add-ins associated with Office applications and check.

    Thank you.
