Powerpoint Slideshow loses graph formatting

Hi,

I am preparing a powerpoint presentation which contains numerous graphs prepared in Excel and then copied (copy and paste) over to powerpoint.  The problem I am having is that whilst the formatting (dotted lines) is copied over when you are looking at the slides in the editing mode when you swap to slide show the dotted lines become solid?  Does anyone have any experience as to why this would be and how I get around it?

Thanks

Dave

This not a link to fix the problem merely a Microsoft guide how to use graphs.  The graphs are established, printed and the document saved.  Then when you make a change anywhere in the Excel worksheet then randomly the graph data get erased from either completely the graph, most data series, or a single data series kept but referring to only one cell.

This link as mentioned does not lead to a solution.   Best be removed as it only serves to delay solution to what has been reported as an Excel issue since version 2010 that Microsoft has failed to address.  It maybe the result of trial versions of Excel having graphing functions disabled even when upgraded to full versions, as the only solution I have seen has been complete removal of Excel, manually editing the Registry to remove any trace of Office, and then reinstalling.  Surely Microsoft can come up with a better solution to a problem it has caused trying to push sell its products.

I am having exactly the same issue with 2016.  It appear reading back that this is a known issue with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft since 2010 has failed to act to correct this.  Who needs Russian hackers when you have Microsoft ignoring its own customers.

A solution would be appreciated from Microsoft to fix what is a known issue.  Not a range of try this or that with nothing appearing to work.

    Hi,

I have a lot of data contained in a numerous data series displayed as a scatter with smoothed lines.  Some of which are dashed and some not.  I have attached an image saved from the work area of powerpoint.  When you swap to slide show here it does not show the dotted line formatting.

Let me know if I can provide any more information on this.

    Thanks

    Dave

    Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.  Following your link the only way to circumvent the changing of the graph when entering the slide show is to paste it in as a picture.  Better than nothing but it does mean use lose a lot of functionality.

    Thanks again!

    Dave
