There are different collections of Shape effects in every version of Office. Unfortunately, there are no tools in PowerPoint to import, export or transfer shape effects and no way to define a custom shape effect, so you're pretty well stuck with the variations you see in your edition of PowerPoint.

I think they have simply renamed the effect "Round Convex".

    Alison,

Isn't it under Drawing tools - Format tab - Shape effects - Bevel - third row - last icon?

It is really annoying that they do this. I am at Community College doing a Cengage course on Microsoft Office, and I am unable to upload my assignments without the stupid Art Deco Bevel effect. Has Microsoft never heard of backward compatibility? This really ticks me off. Like they needed to get rid of it. If I can't find a version of 2013 running on something, I'm stuffed.

Sometimes you can create an object in one version and copy it to another.

Sometimes you can "trick" the application into thinking it is an older version and therefore displaying the features/attributes of the older version. For example if you open an "old" PPT (or DOC, etc) in a 2007 or newer version of the application it will display "compatibility mode" in the title bar and the application features are degraded to equivalent of the older version. Same applies to a 2007 file in 2010 or newer, but the effect is much less obvious.

I am specifically thinking of WordArt, but it may also apply to shape effects (I have not tested).
