I have narrated slides from my professor, after I download them I cant get the audio to play, I get a " media unavalible". I've tried optimaztion of the media and that didn't work, i went and saved the powerpoint as a zip and then extracted the audio files(m4a) and they played fine on my laptop. Any thoughts as to why this wont work via powerpoint but will work through windows media player?

Does file end with .PPT? Your teacher may have saved as the old format thinking that this would make the file more universally accessible, but it actually unembeds the audio.

What version of PowerPoint is your professor using? Another possible issue is that the PowerPoint 2013 initial release and earlier formats used .WAV files, but later MS changed the 2013 narration format to .M4A. But normally a fully patched version of 2010 will be able to play these.
