No font selection in Conditional Formatting

I opened and edited an Excel 2003 file with Excel 2016 and saved it as a .xlsm file. Now I cannot select Font options when editing existing conditional formats or creating new ones. The only options available are shading and color. What's up?

In Conditional Formatting, you can specify the following properties of a font:

  • Color
  • Style (bold, italic)
  • Underlining
  • Strikethrough

The font name and font size can not be set in conditional formatting. This applies to all versions of Excel.

See for example Changing Font Face and Size Conditionally

The Format Cells dialog box is there in it's entirety, but the Font selection is unavailable.

Do you mean that there is no Font tab if you click Format...?
