Sharing document - email for contacts incorrect

Hi All

I'm trying to share documents via OneDrive - however I have two users email addresses under one persons name which is causing sharing issues. Can you advise how this may have happened and what I can do to fix it?

This is a work related account and I have by passed my internal IT department as they cannot work out how to fix it and i'm going around in circles.

The email addresses in question are external to my organisations 365 profile, as such my IT dept asked me to contact my client (the external party's) IT dept. They advised me to delete the profiles from my end out side as there were no such errors at their end, I was unable to do this due to administration rights.

Screen shot below - part of the email addresses removed for privacy reasons

Any helps/suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

Regarding the display names of the external users which you shared with, they are set by their display name in their organization and will show in your organizations contacts with the same display name. Like the below picture shows in the contacts:

To change the display name which shows in the people picker list, you need to involve the Office 365 admin to change their display name via the following method. Go to Office 365 admin center > Users > Active users, choose the external user which you want to change their display name and click Edit in the Display name part.

After changing their display name, when we choose the people to share our documents, the display name will be updated in the people picker list like below.

However, the display name showed in the “Shared with” part will not be changed. To find the exact people, we need to click on the head picture to get their email account. For your reference:

Regards,

Allan

    Hi Paul,

Yes, you need to involve your IT admin (Office 365 admin) to do this.
