file size bloating

I'm compiling a bunch of fanfic recs and reviews into a Microsoft Word document, and doing a copy/paste from Firefox to Word 2003 of the official summaries.

I've noticed that the file size is growing larger than it should, at 140K when saving it as plain text makes it only a 40K document.

I remember a bug about formatting, and the solution of doing "select all" and copying it into a new document.

However, I ask if it makes a difference HOW I do the copy/paste.

Does it mater if I do "paste special" and choose "unformatted text" as opposed to control-v and choosing to "keep text only"? I don't need the HTML and embedded links that come with copying summaries off of Pit of Voles, Ficwad, or Twisting the Hellmouth. Especially the link to ratings.

In the latter case, it seems to paste everything in, then removes the unnecessary stuff, which IIRC leads to the file bloating problem.

I can't recall however, since it has been five years since I have created a large Word document, or any kind of large office document. Even the largest PowerPoint I've done was 14 slides.
