I have lost the ability to reopen my Word document where I left off previously. In other words, I do not get the "Welcome back" message. Any solutions?

Hi,

I'd like to ask a question before we proceed.

  • Does this issue occurs in all Office application or is specific to particular Office application?
  • Was there any recent updates installed in your system?

First I suggest you to try Shift+F5 in Word. This should take you to the last edit point.

In Microsoft Word 2013, go to File tab --> Options tab --> Save tab --> tick the following checkboxes

* Checkbox "Save recovery information every [specified time interval]"; AND

* Checkbox "Keep the last autosaved version if I close without saving"; remember

* Note the file location of the "autorecover file location" for convenient control measures.

If issue still persist you may refer to the article How to troubleshoot problems that occur when you start or use Word and verify:

Please reply here with the results so that we can assist you further.
