Moving Objects in PowerPoint 2016

Recently upgraded to Office 2016.  I don't know if the function of keys has changed, but it is painful slow to move an object using the arrow keys.  I'm experiencing about a 2-second delay between typing an arrow key a few times and the movement of the object.  And the distance the object moves is much, much less than it was with PowerPoint 2010.  I would say that with 2016 the arrow key is acting more like a CTL-arrow key would (i.e., a nudge) in 2010.  Am I doing something wrong?  The behavior is so painfully slow I can't get my work done in a reasonable amount of time.  At this point I regret upgrading to 2016.

Thanks for any help on this.

Did you actually check the Snap to Grid settings in the file with the problem?

Snap to Grid is a per-file setting, not a PowerPoint application-wide setting.  It may be off in one file and on in another.

When Snap to Grid is turned off, the default nudge IS in fact the same as Ctrl+Arrow Key.

If you turn Snap to Grid on, you can control the basic Arrow Key nudge, and Ctrl+Arrow Key continues to work as you'd expect it to.

As it turns out, it had nothing to do with Snap to Grid being on or off.  The problem was limited to the file I was working on, which just happened to be my first experience with PowerPoint 2016.  When I recreated the contents in another PowerPoint file, there was no problem at all.  Not sure why the original file was problematic.
