SharePoint Online Quick Launch Menu changes

Recent changes to the behavior of the Quick Launch menu are troubling and inconsistent. It looks like there are two methods of editing the quick launch based on where you are editing the menu, for example, on content that has been updated to the new style (list or library) rather than pages that use the older style (home page, pages libraries, calendar, etc.)  I believe the disconnect is coming from exactly that- there are two ways to edit because of the current two styles of content. It seems that can be worked around by updating twice --but will that be remedied when all pages run the newer style in the future?

The biggest issue is that if you change anything at all under the main site navigation settings under look and feel) it resets all the links that was previously deleted when editing the quick launch on a page in the site.  Nothing is checked within 'show subsites' or 'show pages' and the navigation displayed is not what is reflected in the site when the changes are saved.

Please reread what you wrote. How do you expect anyone to keep up with or comprehend the utterly random and pointless changes Msft seems to make? The navigation in O365 was already poorly designed and far too intricate - now it's changing? Or isn't it? I really can't tell........

Please just look at what other sites do - navigation needs to be simple and intelligible, You can't have all the usual Msft caveats like "if you're using this type of site/list/view/experience, it will be different".

GIVE US ONE TYPE OF NAVIGATION REGARDLESS OF SITE/LIST/VIEW/EXPERIENCE.

    IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Sorry for delayed response.

Here are the steps and screenshots to reproduce:

    1. If you are on content that uses the new style list library, click edit under the side navigation.

    1. The new style of quick link edit appears. And I delete any item in the side navigation that I do not want to appear.

    1. Later, let's say, another colleague with design/owner permissions on the site, or the same person decides to edit the quick links but uses the older official way, through the site settings-->navigation (under look and feel)

    1. Any change at all to the navigation here (for my example, I removed a document library) and when I go back to any page on my site that uses the new style, all of the items that I previously removed are added back in to the side navigation.

I am using Windows 8 and my O365 subscription is an Enterprise E3 license through company I work for.

Another example of the disastrous way Msft is deploying the "new" experience to production sites. No one else on the planet pushes untested changes like this. Please, if you don't know what you are doing, just leave well enough alone.
