VBE6EXT.OLB not loading error

I found solution to VBE6EXT.OLB not loading. My registry key is corrupted, but I cannot update because it is locked by system. I tried changing to administrator, but system will not let me change it. I am running Windows 10 on a HP laptop. I am using Office 365 and cannot access Visual Basic in Access and Excel. Is there a work around to the key being locked?

I think you're *this" close to rebuilding that machine. At least that takes a known amount of time...

    1. There is nothing wrong with the registry except the one that starts VBA. There are missing entries in that key. I do not trust 3rd party repair programs.

2)Tried reinstalling Office 365 and even tried installing Office 2013 which I have. No change.

    1. Windows 10 is up to date. (even updated to anniversary edition)

If your Registry is corrupt, I'd strongly encourage you to resolve that instead of trying to muck around with individual keys. There are some 3rd party registry repair programs, but many report they do more harm than good.

I'd suggest you try a reinstall of Office instead of trying to fix this manually.

Also be sure your Windows installation is up to date, but ONLY after trying the Office reinstall/repair.

And before doing any of this, be sure any important documents/pictures etc are backup up off machine.

You could run regedt32.exe by right-clicking it and selecting Run as Administrator.

Be *very* careful with this tool. You can easily mess up your Windows installation.
