Please follow the steps below to troubleshoot it:
- Click Start, type services.mscin the search box, and then press Enter.
- Right click "Microsoft Azure AD Sync (AAD Connect)" or "Windows Azure Active Directory Synchronization Service (AAD Sync )" > click Properties.
- Click the Log On tab.
- Make sure that the account is set to the directory synchronization service account. For example: AAD_<nnnnnnnnnnnn> or MSOL_<nnnnnnnnnnnn>.
- Click Start, type gpedit.msc in the search box, and then press Enter.
- Expand Computer Configuration > Window Settings >Security Settings> Local policies > User rights assignment.
- Confirm that the directory synchronization service account is added to the following policies:
Log on as a service
Log on as batch job
- Confirm that the directory synchronization service account is not added to "Deny log on locally".
- If you made changes to the local policy, please run "gpupdate /force" to update the policy.
- If the issue persists after doing the steps above, please try to uninstall and reinstall sync tool.
