Hi

I'm helping a friend. He bought a Office365 Home Card (One year subscription) from the local retailer. When we go to office365.com/setup and enters the serial at the back of the card - we keep getting this error:

Sorry, we can't find this product key in our database.

If your product key is for Office 2010, Office 2007, or Office for Mac 2011, you can redeem your product key and download Office here.

If your product key is for Office 365 for Business, redeem it here.

Error code: KEY_NOT_ACTIVATED

Same experience with a card I bought from Currys/PC World so I would not expect it to be counterfeit. Now have to find out what their attitude will be after waiting an hour hearing about how important my call is to them of course. Infuriating!

I purchased an Office 365 personal Subscription from our local SAMs retailer.  The login system would not accept the product code after several attempts.  I took the product back to the retailer who would nor refund or exchange.  The retailer also informed me that I had only 24 hours after purchase to refund or exchange.  This information was not available at product kiosk or at check out.  I feel like I just ate $70 worth of software.

It was a local physical store. They exchanged it to a new card - and it just works :-)

    What retailer?

Most likely cause is counterfeit software key. Same thing happened to me from some retail cards I bought from Amazon through a third party seller. Won't be making that mistake again. See if you can bring it to the retailer and exchange it.
