Where is the Animation Trigger feature in the latest build of PowerPoint:mac 2016?

In the Office 365 update for October 2016 (15.27) Microsoft include the following in the release note: "You can also trigger an animation by using a bookmark in your media file."

Whilst I can see the UI for adding a Bookmark to a media file e.g. audio narration, I cannot see the UI for setting the interactive Trigger timeline to use that Bookmark, nor any other type of trigger i.e. clicking a simple shape.

In fact, if I open a deck created with the PC version of PowerPoint 2016 that has two shapes, with shape A animated on the Trigger of Shape B, when I open this deck in the latest build of PowerPoint:mac 2016, the trigger does indeed work in slide show mode but is neither viewable nor editable in the normal view.

Does PowerPoint:mac 2016 now support the creation of animation triggers or not?

There still is no Timelines feature or Animation Triggers feature in the Mac version. All you can do is add Animation Effects [from a limited assortment] to the Bookmarks you create. Also, there is no Bookmarks list or Advanced Animation pane as referred to in this Windows article.

To add effects to a Bookmark, select the Bookmark then go to the Animations tab to choose the effects you want to use.

The term trigger is used confusingly in that KB in the context of 'cause to occur' & is completely unrelated to the Triggers feature in the PC version.

NOTE: Microsoft is supplying some features only to Office 365 subscribers. My comments above are based on my installation of v15.27 which is a Retail License (non-subscription) package.

Great clarification info Bob. Thank you. Here's hoping that animation triggers, bookmarks and audio in exported video files (with bookmark triggers) all appear in a version not so far down the road!

Use the ☺︎ at the right end of the Ribbon in any Office 2016 program to submit feedback about that program, pro or con.

You can go to PowerPoint for Mac to VOTE for or offer suggestions & feature requests.
