Misaligned cursor position when adding text box

Hi

When adding a text box onto a PowerPoint slide the cursor position is aligned correctly only if the default for the text box has the text left aligned.

If the default is center, right or justified (by changing an existing text box and choosing "Set as default text box" from the right-click menu), when clicking on the slide to add a new text box the cursor jumps about ½ inch to the right.

Is there a way to stop this behavior and have the cursor stay where I click (so that the center of the text remains where I originally click)?

Not trying to justify the action just trying to explain what I think is going on.When you click the slide to insert a shape / textbox PowerPoint tries to insert a 1" square shape. It it's a textbox then it shrinks to a minimal size.

The effect of this is a center aligned box will think the cursor should be 0.5" right of where you click (and probably lower) and a right aligned box 1" right of where you click.

    Hi Steven,

To better assist you with your concern in Powerpoint, we want to ask some questions:

    • Which Windows OS do you use?
    • Other than Powerpoint, is the behavior with the cursor affects other Office 2016 applications?

We suggest sending us a screenshot of the Powerpoint slide that you are creating so that we could identify the cause of the problem.

    Looking forward to your response.
