Error sharing onenote notebopok

I tried to send an invite to join with a notebook to someone but it said that it can't be shared and I should try again. I tried this with several notebooks in my account with the same email. Then I tried again with a completely different email. I have shared notebooks before, plenty of times. What do I do?!

I believe I did finally figure this out.  I never received anything helpful from Microsoft about it though.

The fix:  Log in to your Outlook email account.  There should be an email there (I forget the exact wording) that says Microsoft periodically requires you to verify that you are still using your email account.  The purpose is to prevent your account from being used to send spam.  Do whatever verification it says to do.

Why it works:  Part of the process of sharing a notebook is that an email gets sent from your outlook account to the person you are sharing with.  I never use my outlook email and never log in to it.  So because I ignored that email my account was frozen and it could not send an outgoing email.  If you can't send an email then you can't share.  I was able to share my notebook again as soon as I unfroze the email account.

I hope this helps.  I wish Microsoft would fix this because sharing documents should not be linked to email like this.

Thank you very, very much! It worked. Problem fixed!

I cant believe Microsoft arent able to help people with this. I`ve searched through numberous of forums, and there are so many people meeting this problem, and the only answer they get from microsoft is som basic tips like checking if you have everything stored on OneDrive, close and restart the application, etc.

    Anyway, thank you!:)

Let's try to reset your cloud connection then. Kindly unlink and relink to OneDrive and OneNote and let us know the outcome.

    Thank you.

    1. What changes have you made prior this issue?

If you mean did I make any changes to my account, no. The only changes I ever made is the content. I have shared two other notebooks in the last six months.

    1. Are you getting any error messages upon sending an invite? If so, send us a screenshot.

I dont get an error message when I use the desktop version. But this is what I see when I do it online.

    1. Can you receive an invite from another person?

No, The person in the email above tried to send me an invite and it never went through. I also tried to send this same invite to several other email addresses, just to see if it worked, and it didnt.
