Clear Table Contents without Deleting Table

I can't seem to figure out how to clear the contents of a table without deleting the table itself. If a single cell is highlighted the backspace or delete key will clear the cell but not delete it. If an entire row, column or table is selected then the backspace or delete key will delete that row, column or table.

It seems simple enough to have one key delete and one clear. Am I missing something or is this overlooked functionality?

I'm running the full (desktop) version of OneNote from "Office 365 ProPlus" on Windows 10 if that helps.

    Hi,

We are currently trying to re-create the scenario on our end so that we can get a better understanding of the challenges that you are having with OneNote. To better assist you, would it be possible for you to send us some screenshots of what you are facing when you try to delete the contents of a table in OneNote? You may also find this Link helpful in using and managing tables in Onenote.

We look forward to hearing from you again soon.

I've attached a picture demonstrating what I see and what I would have expected. Essentially it seems like the two different keys "delete" and "backspace" have the same functionality meanwhile useful functionality seems to be unavailable. It would be great to see "delete" stay the same while "backspace" could be used to clear cells as shown in the "desired result" below.

I'm assuming there is a way to do this that I'm just not aware of.

Note: The screenshot is edited to remove personal information.

    Hi,

We suggest to check if you have the latest update for Office. Steps can be found here. If issue persists, try to access OneNote Online and check if backspace will do the same behavior.

    Regards.

I have Office 365 with automatic updates for Windows products enabled.

OneNote Online actually has almost the same issue. Online both backspace and delete clear the cells but do not delete them. At the very least these should be consistent online and on the desktop but I would like to see these two different functions available with the two different keystrokes.

The question is: what is the "normal" behavior? Am I experiencing a bug or design "choice"?
