Excel 2016 Slow Calculation - Delay After Every Click

Question

Hi,

Every time I press enter on a cell there is a 3-5 second delay before it loads.

I am using iterative calculations as my spreadsheet needs circular references and I also have calculation options set to Automatic.

Is there a way to speed this up? I have a MacBook Air from 2014

Hi Christopher,

The delay before it loads depends on how much data you are trying to calculate.

The option to speed it up is not available in Excel 2016 for Mac. Help us improve our products and services by sending a feedback to Microsoft. See this link and click on the blue button that says "Send feedback to Microsoft".

Thanks for the reply Lizette.

I don't know how to officially quantify the amount of data but the spreadsheet is reasonably small (<100 rows) and the looping calculations usually only affect 3-4 other calculations.

This even happens when I simply type random text into a cell which does not require a calculation and I press enter.

I will also follow the feedback link you have provided.

Is there anything I can do on my end that may help/identify the problem?

Use Normal view instead of Page Layout view.

There are too many variables controlling the response time. The right solution can be given only by looking at your actual workbook.

A recommendation would be to set Calculation Option to Manual and press F9 (or Shift +F9 for only sheet recalculation). Before finalizing your workbook, you can revert the calculation Option to Automatic.
