Expand source table when refreshing pivot table

I have a pivot table based on a source table that will potentially expand in size, as additional rows are added. I'd like to refresh the pivot table to reflect the new rows. The normal Refresh Data doesn't seem to do this.

Is there any way to automatically include additional rows when refreshing a pivot table? Or do I have to manually expand the size of the source table each time?

Thanks.

Hi,

I'm assuming that you are typing in data manually in a table.

Try:

  • Select a cell within the range of cells you want in the table.
  • Click Insert and then select Table.  Or Keyboard shortcut : Press Ctrl+T or Ctrl+L.
  • Excel will display a Create Table dialog box.

This should make your table dynamic which then will refresh properly.

If you are getting the data externally, he best way to do accomplish what you are looking for is by linking to the data file.

hth,

John
