Hi,

I am using sharepoint online.

In that quicklaunch navigation/top navigation in sharepoint site is not working beyond level 2. I have following navigation hierarchy:

  • Menu 1
    • Submenu 1.1
      • Subemenu 1.1.1
      • Submenu 1.1.2
    • Submenu 1.2
  • Menu 2

3rd level menu Subemenu 1.1.1 and Subemenu 1.1.2 were visible after changing StaticDisplayLevels to 4 in site master page using sharepoint designer.

But from sometime, 3rd level menu is not visible even though StaticDisplayLevels is set to 4. I tried by increasing MaximumDynamicDisplayLevels. But is is also not working.

Why StaticDisplayLevels settings is not working now? I need a way to show menus till level 3 or 4.

    Hi Bhoomi,

For the No-Code solution, please go to the Navigation Settings, first keep all the Headings on the root level, then we can move the link Menu 1.1.1 under Heading 1.1. After that, click EDIT LINKS in the Quick Launch, and drag the Heading 1.1 under Heading Menu 1.

To look into the issue with changing code, please share with us the information below:

    1. Make sure you selected Managed Navigation in Navigation Settings, and have created terms for your items.
    2. Provide a screenshot of your Navigation Settings.
    3. Provide a screenshot of the current Quick Launch after you changed the code.

    Regards,

    Jiaxing

    Hi,

When I try to move link Menu 1.1.1, it goes only under heading Menu 1 but not able to put it under heading Menu 1.1. In short, it is not possible to move it at third level of menu hierarchy.

Please note that for above steps, I haven't changed default values of StaticDisplayLevels or MaximumDynamicDisplayLevels.

    • StaticDisplayLevels setting not working

As said previously, 3rd level menu was working before with StaticDisplayLevels set to 4. But now it is not working. Would you please reply for this?

    Regards,

    Bhoomi

    Hi Bhoomi,

Select the link Menu 1.1.1, and click Move Up or Move Down on the ribbon. Then it will be moved within and outside the Heading.

    Hi Jiaxing,

    My replies:

    1. Yes, the 3rd level menu was working fine before. From some days, it is not working.
    2. It is not working in other site collection also.
    3. Stpes I followed:
      • Activate Publishing Infrastructure at site collection level
      • Activate Publishing Infrastructure at site level from site settings
      • In site master page for V4QuickLaunchMenu, keep StaticDisplayLevels=4 and MaximumDynamicDisplayLevels=1
Above steps were working fine in past and 3rd level links were visible.

I tried steps from  No-Code Global Navigation Flyouts in SharePoint 2013

However steps after Edit Links not working for me. Tried with two headings and one link. **But not able to move link 'Menu 1.1.1' under heading 'Menu 1.1'.**See below screenshots of navigation settings and quick-launch menu.

    Regards,

    Bhoomi

    Hi Bhoomi,

To better understand the situation, please confirm the information below:

    1. Have the 3rd level menu ever worked normally before?
    2. Use a different site collection to check the outcome.
    3. Provide the steps you used or the article or referred to.

Meanwhile, you can try the following method with no-code:

No-Code Global Navigation Flyouts in SharePoint 2013
