I have cross referenced some figures in my document and all of a sudden this is happening. I can't delete the spacing or random text i.e \h \* MERGEFORMAT. I've also tried 'Alt F9' and that doesn't get rid of it. Please help!

Hi, Very kind of you to offer, but I'm not sure I'm actually allowed to send you the whole document. Thank you anyway

I switched it to 'All mark up' and there is nothing there, and nothing further to delete. I then switched it to 'No mark up' which got rid of all the spcaing and weird text, which is good to know that it at least can be done. However, when I switch it back to 'Simple Mark up' the problems do come back again?

If you send me a copy of the document, referencing this thread in the covering email message, I will investigate the issue.

Since you seem to have Track Changes enabled, see if switching to "All Markup" gives a clue to what is going on. (Click the drop down which now says "Simple Markup.")

    Hi Zoe,

Based on the description that you provided, there are settings that we need to configure to resolve this issue. However, we need to do some troubleshooting steps to isolate the cause of this problem. Before we proceed, may we know the following:

    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?
    • Is this the first time that you encountered this problem?
    • Have you tried reproducing the same file? If so, did you experience the same issue?
