Screen shots getting distorted

Hi Guys

I've been using Word and writing manuals since about Word 97, however when using Word 2016 (365 Home) today, I am finding that screenshots are getting distorted when put into my Word documents.  The manual I wrote five days ago is fine.

They look ok when I first insert them, but at some point - generally after a save - they get distorted.  They appear this way when printed / converted to a PDF, so it's not a display issue, as shown below.

The screen shots are created using the Snipping Tool.

As you can imagine this is a real problem for me.

Any ideas would be most welcome.

Thanks

Julie

I would call the "degradation", not "distortion".  What settings are in effect under File>Options>Advanced>Image Size and Quality

    Hi Doug

Same as yours, but I've now the checked the Do not compress images in file and changed it to High Fidelity .

That seems to have made a difference.

Not sure why it worked fine a couple of days ago, with the setting on that document exactly the same.

    Thanks for your help.

    Regards

    Hi Doug

    Thanks for your reply.

When i initially insert the screen shot into my document, and put the red border around the bit that needs it, the text is crisp and clear like your example.

However, once I save the document or do other things, it then becomes blurred like my example.

It is doing it for all the screen shots I embed.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Regards

    Julie

Is the image in your post supposed to be a distorted screen shot, or is the problem the poor quality of the text in the screen shot?

What application are you using to take the screen shot?  Mine was taken using SnagIt from www.techsmith.com and if you double click on it in this response, you will see that it is of good quality,

unlike the one in your post, which when double clicked appears as
