I do not understand the difference between sharing and installing Office 356 home. I have installed on 5 family members' computers. Why would I share as well? Can I just share instead and not install, it seems that you get to download all the applications when someone shares with you. What is the difference and when is what required?

Installing using your email account means that you "own" and control it on all machines. The others may be able to run it, but you will own it. You have only the 1 x 1TB onedrive space allocation and 1 x 60minutes per month skype time.

If you "share" your Office 365 Home license with those other people they also get a separate 1TB allocation of OneDrive space and a separate allocation of 60 minutes of "Free" skype time each month. They have control over what computer(s) they have installed Office on. They still have their separate Outlook email account.

Either you can install on those 5 computers or you can share. You do share when the computer is not accessible to you and you can't install. Installation will be done by the person who you have shared with. (This means that you need not share your Myaccount login and password with somebody else)
