Excel 365 crashes when adding "solver add in" or using some functions

Hi,

Just very recently I met 2 major problems with Excel 365 listed below.

First is the 'solver add-in'. Previously It runs great. But suddenly the error message popped out, saying "Excel is running into problems with the 'solver add-in' add-in...". After I click "No" the excel opens, but when I try to manually add the add-in, the excel totally freezes and never come alive. I need this add-in for my work, but now I cannot use it at all.

Second one is some functions in Excel. It seems all or most of the functions in "Font" of the "Home" tab are not working. Every time I tried to change the font color or make it bold, the excel totally freezed and died. Some functions in right click seems also not working.

I am not sure which problem comes first, but pretty sure there are no updates for office 365 recently, and I also tried uninstalling several programs that I installed recently, and also uninstall and reinstall office 365 for several times. I even tried "Quick Repair" and "Online Repair" tools, but the problems still remain.

Anybody met such problems before, or have any solutions?

    Hi Allan,

Thanks for your reply and suggestions.

It seems everything is back to normal now. I don't know the exact reason, but the only modification I made yesterday is that I reinstalled ".net framework 4.6.2".

Anyway, we can close this issue for now. Just for the record, I can attach the product information here. The system is Windows 7 Pro 64bit.

    Bests,

    Nao

    Hi Nao Cai,

We suggest you post the second issue in a new thread. So, we can focus on the Solver add-in issue in this thread. Users who encounter the same issue can also find this thread easily.

For the Solver add-in issue, I’d like to confirm the following things:

    1. Do you encounter this issue when staring up Excel or editing, saving a file?
    2. Disable Solver add-in, check if Excel works well.
    3. Open Excel>File>Account>capture a screenshot of all information under Product Information. Meanwhile, let us know the version of your operating system.

    Best regards,

    Allan
