Access 2016 security problem

I can open my Access databases after starting Access or by dragging the mdb or accdb file to the desktop Access shortcut. However when I double click either file Access opens with a security warning. If I then click the Open choice Access does not open the database. It only presents a File menu. I have set the folder where the Access files reside as a trusted location, but that doesn't help. Right-clicking the file name and selecting "open with" shows the file opening in Access 2016, but the graphic is not the same as the Access 2016 program graphic, the shortcut shown below. I am attaching pictures of the two icons. I have the latest version of Office 365, updated today. I am also running Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

I have tried changing the "opens with" choice in the Properties menu of one database to the proper MSACCESS.EXE file location, but I still see the same key icon and get the same result.

Any suggestions for resolving this so that I can again open databases with a double click in File Explorer would be helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Bill

My guess is that you only have the Runtime version of Access installed. Create a shortcut like this:

<path_to>msaccess.exe <path_to>your.db

Or maybe you have more than one version of Access installed. Search the hard drive for msaccess.exe.

Yes I found two versions of Access on my computer, each with separate icons. I renamed the old one msaccess.old, which solved the problem. It was in an Office 14 folder. I assume I can just delete that entire folder.

Thanks for the help!
