Document Map - setting headings display

I am having a problem in Word for Mac 2011. My operating system is OS X Yosemite.

I want to use the Document Map in a Word document to navigate around the document but no headings show up in my Document Map (accessed through View/Sidebar/Document Map). The Help "Tip" says I can set the number of heading levels that are displayed by holding down CONTROL, clicking any heading and choosing the number of heading levels on the shortcut menu. When I do this, the shortcut menu only gives me review options like Accept, Reject or Track Changes - nothing about heading levels. Please help!

I found the answer in another conversation here. My problem was that I had created my own heading styles and they weren't showing up. What I needed to do was redefine the heading style by including an Outline Level assignment in the Format> Paragraph dialogue. (They were previously classifed as Body Text). Worked like a charm. Thanks BobJ!
