Missing audio recording

I recorded an interview for an assignment with OneNote's audio recording feature.  It looked like it always does when I record lectures in class, the recording indicator was going etc...

When I got home the recording was gone from the OneNote page.  Cannot find it anywhere in OneNote, OneDrive or my local drive.  I know it has to be somewhere, how can I retrieve it?

    Hi Corinna,

Given your description, the audio seems haven't been synced to cloud. In this situation, I'd like to explain that there is no official method to restore this audio from your Mac. OneNote for Mac stores notebooks in cloud, even we can find some cache files on the local drive, we cannot directly open and restore them.

    Thanks for your understanding.

Hi Tim, Thanks for your reply.  I have a University Institutional 365 account and store everything there.  I have looked for it in OneNote online and with OneDrive online.  I am realizing that i was not online when I made the recording as I was not at home or at school.  It appeared to be recording, I stopped it, closed my laptop, drove home, and when I opened the same page it was not there.  I don't think it uploaded at all. Would it have stored it somewhere on my local drive in the absence of the internet?

    Thanks,

    Corinna

    Hi Corinna,

To better understand the situation, I'd like to confirm the following things:

    1. Where do you store your notebooks, consumer OneDrive or OneDrive for Business?
    2. Access your cloud storage with browser, find your notebook and open it with OneNote Online. Check if you can see those audios.
    3. Make sure there is no sync issue with your notebooks. Record a new audio, add some contents, check if they can be synced to cloud without problems.

    Best regards,

    Tim
