Cant add error bars Excel chart

I cannot add my custom error bars to excel.  Both in the Chart's 'Chart Elements' it is not available and also when I go to 'Add Chart Element' the Error Bars option is grayed out (see attached images).

How can  add custom values into error bars?  I want to graph the average values(because I have MANY blank spots that keeps forcing excel into grpahing the data as different series) and I want to add the Standard Deviation values as error bars (See Row 5 on image for calculated error bars).

    You can't add error bars to a 3D chart. You'll have to make it a standard chart, then you can add them.
