Having trouble with the =DATEDIF function in Excel 2016

I am trying to calculate the difference between two dates, with the answer displayed in months, and was referred to the =DATEDIF formula by a friend as shown below:

But when I enter that formula for my data, the second cell keeps turning red and when I finish the formula and press enter, a pop up box appears and tells me my formula is broken (please see screenshots below)

    Your formula works fine for me. Can you upload a copy of the workbook for us to take a look at?

    Regarding the cell colors, these correspond to the cells in the formula, so K2 is blue, and L2 is red. It's Excel's way of helping you "see" what your formula is referencing.
