Background is tiling when PDFing

I have to create a Word template with dual purpose:

  1. Be able to be printed on company letterhead
  2. Be able to be PDFd with company letterhead included as the document background

I inserted a background image into the Word template, which works great for printing. The background doesn't print. HOWEVER, when I try to convert that document to PDF, the background tiles and becomes a bunch on tiny little images repeated throughout the PDF background.

I looked online and found a workaround of sorts by dropping the background in the header. This works great for PDFing, but doesn't work for printing as there is no option to make the image in the header not print. I tried unselecting print drawings in Word Options, but that doesn't work because then the background won't transfer to the PDF.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Jose

    HI Doug,

That was one of the things I wanted to try, but I couldn't find where to format the image in the header as hidden. I know there is a way to make text hidden, but couldn't figure out images. How do I do that?

    Thanks for your help,

    Jose

You could format the image in the header so that it is hidden and then toggle on and off the printing of hidden text as required.

    Hi,

Incorrectly configured settings can be one of the possible reasons why you are unable to print a Word document with a background image. Check if the Print background colors and images option is enabled. Here are the steps on how to enable the Print background colors and images.

    1. Click File.
    2. Choose Options.
    3. Select Display.
    4. Under Printing Options, make sure that the box beside Print background colors and images is checked.
    5. Hit OK.

Let us know if you need additional assistance.
