Selecting Unique value with multiple emails

I have been using exchange to create a few rules for a company, and I ran into an error that I can not seem to find online. One of the members that needs to be added to a forwarding rule has 2 emails (with different domains) under than same account/profile. Upon selecting one or both of the emails and trying to save the rule, the message  "There are multiple recipients matching the identity...Please specify a unique value."  appears. How would I go about solving this error?

Hi Jared,

About the error message “There are multiple recipients matching the identity...Please specify a unique value”, it may occurs if multiple mailboxes or mail contacts have the same display name. Exchange examines the Display name field or the displayName attribute when it creates a rule. You can change the display name in the Exchange admin so that the name doesn't conflict with an existing mailbox or mail contact.

Meanwhile, to avoid this problem, please use the user's Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) address instead of the display name when you create rules.

Thanks,

Richard

Thank you Richard for explaining the reason for the issue, and for providing a solution. I was able to change the display name and not receive the error. I will look into using a user's SMTP address.

    Thank you again,

    Jared
