Hi Lancer,

From your description, my understanding is that you have had an Office 365 Subscription (newly created account called by you, but not Office 365 E3) and you want to add the free trial E3 Subscription to the current Office 365 Subscription. Please clarify it with more details if your situation is misunderstood.

If it is the case, I suggest you re-confirm the payment of your current Office 365 Subscription as the error message suggested (it said the payment failed). Generally, we can add another Subscription (both paid and free trial) under the current Subscription via https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Buy-another-Office-365-for-business-subscription-fab3b86c-3359-4042-8692-5d4dc7550b7c. By the way, as you have mentioned your current Office 365 Subscription is newly created, I suggest you wait for some time to avoid the situation that the payment hasn't taken effect.

If the above information is what you have done but the error message persists, I'd like to collect the following information for moving forward:

  1. Your current Office 365 email account. For protecting your privacy, you can provide the account in the Private Message (PM).
  2. A screenshot about the error message.

Regards,

Alan
