Posterframe problem in Powerpoint 2016

I have a question regarding the Posterframe option in Powerpoint (dutch language). I included a youtube video using the video embedding code. Then I inserted a posterframe using a local image file. During powerpoint edit mode the posterframe is correctly displayed, but when I play the presentation the posterframe is being replaced by the original still image from youtube only a very few seconds after opening and displaying the given slide. How can I prevent this behaviour?

Any help is highly appreciated !

Pretty sure poster frames do not work as expected with online video/

    Dear John,

Thanks for your posting. Apparantly inclusion of a poster frame in an online referring video isn't possible? For me as a non-technical person this consequence is not obvious. It is not indicated within PowerPoint, no warning message or blanking of certain options.

    Hi Jenicel Dri,

Thanks for your reply. I was using following YouTube video: https://youtu.be/Ar3veHKBYvU about the strongest spider web. Interesting! Since it should be included in the presentation slide I used the inclusion code which is <iframe width="854" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Ar3veHKBYvU" frameborder="0" gesture="media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I don't know which video format they use on YouTube. But since I don't want to have a very large PowerPoint presentation file I prefer to use the inclusion option.

I included a local file image in .png format or several other, unrelated image files in other file formats as a poster frame image, but every time the poster frame is replaced by a default image displaying a man (Bill I assume?) grabbing a huge web.

    Hi Lucas,

The issue is quite unclear for us to distinguish the main reason why you are having challenges with a Poster frame option in PowerPoint.  To have a better understanding of your concern, we'd like to ask you some questions:

    • What is the file extension of the video file you’re trying to embed?

    • Does this happen with a specific video or with specific video file extensions?

    Regards.
