Layout in a table cell

I am working with Word for Mac 2016, and trying to circle some numbers in a table.  When I create the circle shape and try to put it into place, it moves the cell text around and out of alignment.

The shape text wrapping is set to "behind text" and I've set its absolute position relative to page.  Move object with text is de-selected.

I've gathered through entirely too much googling and trial and error that "layout in a table cell" is tripping me up, but it checked by default and greyed out.  H OW do I deselect this option???

The first concern to address is that your installation of Office 2016 is significantly behind on updates... 15.37 is the current version. Updating may not resolve the issue but it's pointless to troubleshoot when the software is so far out of date.

If you continue to be challenged please return for more assistance.

    Hi LeeN_818,

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Regarding the issue, I understand that when your adjust the position of the shape your inserted in the table, the shape occupied the place in the cell even if you have already set the behind text in the text wrapping.

If yes, would mind share the following information with us so that we can look into this case?

    1. Go to Word > File > Account to capture a screenshot about the Product Information.
    2. The version numberof your Mac.

    Regards,

    William
