Excel Power Query Timeout Error. Pre-Login Handshake Failed

Please see the attached snips from excel. I am trying to connect to a database via "New Query" in excel and received an error. Please note, I can access this database using SQL.

    Hi John,

    Based on my research, the issue is caused by SQL settings. You may need to change the SQL settings not the Excel client. You can try changing the CommandTimeoutproperty of your SqlCommand object. The Connect Timeoutattribute of a connection string determines how long a SqlConnection Object runs before it stops attempting to connect to a server. The CommandTimeout should set to 0.
