I would like to make a spreadsheet for my work, I get paid per job I do and often have multiple jobs in a day. I would like to assign a value to a word for example $35 for DSL. Now in the column "DSL" is in, if I enter the value of 2 for example I would like excel to multiply 2 by 35 to give me 70 in a subtotal cell. Now if the number of DSL jobs I do is 3, or 4, or so on I would like it to multiply by any number I enter in that cell. I would like to do that for every word I have in the first row.

Sorry if I confused you I will be trying to attach my current spreadsheet to give you guys a better understanding

    Hi,

    Here's one way

    1. Paste your existing table one row below i.e. let the headings start from row 2
    2. In row 1, type the hourly rate for each job
    3. In cell X3, enter this formula and copy down

    =SUMPRODUCT(B3:V3*B$1:V$1)

    Hope this helps.
