Excel 2016 sharing violation

I copy several docs and then modify to fit new info. For some reason when attempting to save doc in new folder I get this response:

"The document was saved successfully, but Excel can not re-open it because of a sharing violation. Please close the document and try to re-open it again."

When I close the doc, it is gone, not saved anywhere. How can this be corrected?

    Hi Andrew,

As mentioned on this thread, this issue might be caused by the Network drive or Excel itself. Since you are still receiving the same issue after performing the methods provided, let us try some other steps to isolate the issue. Please refer to the steps below:

    1. Move the files off of the desktop and out of Folders located on the Desktop.
    2. Close the Windows Explorer window which contains the files you are working with.
    3. Many security programs includes "ad-blocking" protection. Go through your security programs currently running and check & disable any ad-blocking feature, web blocking, etc. feature.

Please update us if the steps provided will help resolve the issue.

    Thank you.

    Hi Wilma,
