    We need additional details to address your concern with unreadable text characters in Word. Kindly answer the following:

    • Which Windows build and version are you using? Click here for instructions on how to find your Windows build and version.
    • Which build and version of Office are you using? Click here for instructions on how to find your Office build and version.
    • Can you send u screenshot of the error you’re experiencing?
    • Is it happening to a specific file?
    • Is the affected file a shared file or a personal file?
    • Where is the file stored, in OneDrive, in SharePoint, in File Explorer, or in a shared network folder?
    • Did you make any changes before this issue happened?

    In the meantime, check Office for any updates.
