This morning, my Interactive Brokers API-DDE hung up launching.
I tried everything, rebooting, running CCleaner, clearing Chrome history. More rebooting. Running only Excel and nothing else.
But nothing works.

Make sure you didn't accidently launch the 64-bit version of TWS.
It only works on the 32-bit version.
If you want both versions on the computer, I find it best to install the "stand-alone" 32-bit version.
It won't auto update, but installs to a separate folder, so one can also have the 64-bit version as well.
Just make sure you launce the 32-bit version when working with Excel.
Running only Excel and nothing else.
If it's only Excel, and not running TWS at all, then I believe one needs the "IB Gateway" to be 32-bit as well.
Make sure it wasn't updated by accident to 64-bit

No changes, no error message (just a white screen). I've had Bloomberg, Acrobat, and Avery Add-Ins for many years, and the DDE-API worked just fine.
