Hi,

I've imported a dataset of 29 million rows and 3 columns (lat, long, date) through Power Pivot. 3D power maps picks up the columns but when I try to generate the map I get an error "3D maps encountered an error and could not complete the last action".

I don't get this error on smaller data sets of approximately 300,000 rows. Is there a limit to the amount of rows 3D maps can plot?

    Hi Ashley,

By using 3D Maps, we can map data and plot more than a million rows of data visually on Bing maps in 3-D format from an Excel table or Data Model in Excel.

The error "3D maps encountered an error and could not complete the last action" is caused by the immense amount of data you were trying to generate the map from.

To answer your question if there is a limit to the amount of rows 3D maps can plot, we suggest posting it to our Excel UserVoice feedback forum. This is the place for users to send us suggestions, ideas, questions and feedback on how to improve.
