OneNote can't sync(Error Code: 0XE00009C8)

The online version has everything and preserves the data well, while the desktop version collapses and can't sync.

Hello Matías David Irigoyen,

You can try the solution provided by SilviOrtega who experienced the issue when syncing to OneNote. Kindly check this thread for the steps.

Note: Please make sure that you create a backup of the notebooks.

    Hi Kristine,

    Thank you so much for your help. 

    I manually copy-paste the articles from the online version. (I opened the articles-open in onenote 2016-move to my notebooks)

    I don't know why my classes folder don't seem to work.

    I have the same issue with onenote for iPad.

    I have the latest update, tried reinstall twice and log out and log in about ten times. No luck.

    hi am having the same issue. i am using onenote 2016 and have the latest updates installed but still get the same error :( 

    'Can't sync

    We ran into a problem syncing your notebook. (Error code: 0xE00009C8) '

    We need additional details to address your concern with syncing notes in OneNote. Kindly answer the following:

    • Which Windows 10 build are you using? Click here for instructions on how to find your Windows 10 build.
    • For clarification, are you using OneNote 2016 or OneNote for Windows 10?
    • If your using OneNote 2016, is it a part of an Office 365 subscription? If yes, which build and version of Office 365 are you using? Here’s a link to the steps on how to find your Office 365 build and version.
    • If you’re using the OneNote for Windows 10, which version is it?
    • Can you send us a screenshot of the error message you’re getting?
    • Did you make any changes before this issue happened?

    In the meantime, check OneNote for updates.
