text box not printing

I recently upgraded to 2016 for Mac - and upgrade that deleted all my outlook contacts, but that is another matter. I created some graphs in Excel, imported them into Word and created a text box in the graph.

The text shows on the screen, but not in the print preview and of course it also is not printed.

I went to preferences and checked the "print drawing objects" in the print box, but that didn't make any difference. I also tried saving the file as a 2004 document and that didn't  make any difference.

Any suggestions?

The update from 15.41 to 16.9 was a massive change. The entire Object Model of Office was changed from Office 2010/2011 to Office 2016 for Windows. Office 2016 for Mac now shares the same object model as Office 2016 for Windows. We now have the ability to make PivotCharts, have the new worksheet formulas, and have new chart types.

The interface is being worked on feverishly by Microsoft. If you want the latest builds, consider joining the Insider Fast program. However, PivotCharts don't display in the build I just got a few minutes ago. They're working on this. Insider fast builds are pre-beta, so expect to find new undocumented features and new bugs that Microsoft hopes you will report.

    Hi FrankCerny,

As you mentioned that you have checked Drawing objects, I suggest you check Print background colors and images to check the outcome.

If the problem persist, to better understand the problem, could you please provide the following information?

    1. Your Office version. (Word>About Word)
    2. Screenshot of the text show on the screen and screenshot of the text not in the print preview.
    3. Could you please clarify the steps how you import the graphs into Word? Copy and Paste?
    4. Could you please create a new graph in the new document and create a text box in the graph to check if you can see the text box in print preview?

    Regards,

    Moja

    Version 16.1

I created the graphs in Excel and dragged them into the Word document.

    Hi FrankCerny,

You may try insert the text box out of the graph, and move it in front of the graph to check if you see the text box in the print preview.

If the problem persists, could you please provide Operating System (10.12.6 or 10.13.x)?

    Regards,

    Moja

That worked, although not the way you described. For some reason I can no longer access the text boxes - just the full graph, so I move that to the back. That will complicate things if I want to edit the text in the future.

    Thanks.
