I had to reinstall the OS and then install Office 2016 on the same computer.  I get an error that office cannot verify the license.  Same computer, same software, same license.  When I try to repair, it closes Ovice.

Suggestions?

Thank you!

I did uninstall Office and then reinstalled it-  but the error still occurred.  I did  a full reinstall of my system and then installed Office and everything works fine.  Fortunately, I did not have many files to save prior to the reinstall so it was not too bad.

Thank you for all your help!

Error code 0x8004f80b appears to be an activation error. We suggest that you uninstall Office, then reinstall again. If issue persists, perform an online repair by following the steps on this link.

    Okay, more information.

My computer crashed and I had to reload from a backup image.  Upon completion, the MS office was not present.  I attempted to reload the software and it installed successfully.  However, when I try to open and existing file using  Word or Excel) I get a screen that prompts me to

     "Confirm Your Account".

    When I select "Continue"

    • I get and error message that says.   "Sorry we ran into a problem while trying to install the product key. If this keeps happening, you should try to repair your office product.             System Error: 0x8004f80b."                                                                                                             When I  run  "Repair Now", it aborts the whole process and returns me to my desk top.

    When I select  "Change",

    • I am prompted to "Activate Office"  I enter either my email address or my phone number and I get a message that it cannot verify my account.
