Syncing external sharepoint site

I have an Office 365 tenant. I sync OneDrive and SharePoint sites to my computer. Another organization has an Office 365 tenant shared a SharePoint site with me. I tried to sync the documents but I received the following error:

**We couldn't sync this library.**This library can no longer be synced using this application. To sync these files, use the latest OneDrive application.

I downloaded OneDrive using the 'Get the app' button but it's only syncing my OneDrive.

I have Office ProPlus installed on my local computer.

    Hi John,

    Thanks for your updates.

I would like to explain that we can see those files in and outside our organizations which we have permissions with browser. We can sync files in our tenant (OneDrive for Business library or SharePoint Online team site library) with OneDrive sync client. However, we cannot sync files outside of our organizations as external user with OneDrive sync client.

We understand it will be more convenient if we can directly sync those files in a shared library from another tenant. We suggest you submit the feedback via Uservoice. This is the best way to let the related team hear your voice. Your suggestions will help us perfect our products and services.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Qing

    Hi John,

[Updated by Qing Tang MSFT, 10:26AM, Sep 10, 2017 (UTC)]

    Based on your descriptio~~~~n,

It is not feasible to sync files outside of our organizations as external user.

About the error message, I suggest you refer to the following article about how to use the new sync client:

Get started with the new OneDrive sync client in Windows

If you have completed the steps on the article, please check whether the required registry key has been added:

Press Win + R, run regedit to open Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OneDrive, make sure the value of "TeamSiteSyncPreview" is set to 1.

If not, download and run the TeamSiteSyncPreview.reg to enable SharePoint document library sync. (Use IE if you can't download this file.)

Meanwhile, we suggest you follow the steps in "Test the feature before you enable it for your organization" part in this article and check whether you can sync the library using the new sync client.

If the issue still exists, please provide the following information:

    1. The screenshot of OneDrive icon and version.
    2. Confirm if all sites have the issue.

    Thanks,

    Qing

    Hello,

    Thanks for your suggestion.

I was able to install the new OneDrive app and set the registry key. I rebooted my computer and synced my Office 365 OneDrive & one of my SharePoint sites but I'm still unable to sync an external site.

I received the following error when trying to sync a SharePoint site where I am an external user:
