Viewing multiple windows in Excel on Mac

I am very familiar with viewing multiple windows both in different work books and for tabs in the same work book using view/new window and then arrange.

However, since using the Mac version of Excel I keep encountering a problem whereby I can open as many new workbooks as I like, but I am unable to arrange them to view them side by side, because the arrange option is greyed out.

Please can you advise how to resolve this issue?

    Hi Pat,

You can present the two sheets equally sharing the maximum space, please follow the steps below:

    1. Open the two sheets, click Window on the top menu and chose arrange.

    1. Choose Vertical and click OK.

    1. Then the two sheets equally sharing the maximum space.

    Regards,

    Rosen

    Hi PatB_365,

To determine whether background programs are interfering, please start up your Mac in safe mode, then open Word and check if there are some differences. (To start up Mac in safe mode, you can refer to Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac.)

I think I may have resolved the issue, but still not ideal.

The original spreadsheet was displaying at maximum full screen. When I minimised, it allowed me to arrange the tabs.  However, it only does this on part of the screen and then I have to fiddle around to maximise the viewing area for the two sheets.  This is not ideal, as with the Windows version it normally presents the two sheets equally sharing the maximum space, which is preferable.

Perhaps this is a quirk of the Mac version?  If not, can you advise how to get this to happen automatically?

    Regards

    Pat
