extremely sluggish visio 2016

installed visio pro 2016 on my surfacepro4 and then my new dell xps i7 machine with a 256ssd, 1 terabyte hard drive, 24 gb ram and 8gb video card.  I don't know how else to explain it, but even with a brand new drawing, it literally takes a second or 2 to just insert a simple wall, the cursor turns before I can take my next action.  the screen will sometime blink white, show remnants of the drawing, then come back.  And its happening on both machines.  Frustrated as heck as 2010 seemed to fly.  any thoughts by anyone would be greatly appreciated

Larry

    Hi Larry,

I want to confirm some information to better understand your situation:

    1.  Please go to File tab>Account to capture a screenshot of your Visio product information.

    2.  Please check if it exhibits same behavior if you create a new drawing from different templates and insert different kinds of shapes.

    3.  Please help start Visio in safe mode by pressing Ctrl and click Visio button to start it, then check if it exhibits same behavior.

    4.  Please help record a video to show us the reproduce steps and the symptom. To protect your privacy, please help share the video via private message.

    Regards,

    Joanne

    Joanne,

I think you at least tentatively saved me a ton of time and aggravation.  So thank you so much.  Not sure what I loose in safe mode, but at least for me to make my deadline today, safe mode has made visio useable and apparently eliminated all those problems.  I'll see how the day goes, but now wondering what the next steps would be that I could try over the weekend.

    Hi Larry,

    Thanks for the updated information.

Regarding the problem disappears when you start Visio in safe mode, it may be some background software or add-ins that are interfering with Visio.

You can try disabling all add-ins in Visio and then enabling each add-ins one by one to see which add-in is the root cause. For your reference: View, manage, and install add-ins in Office programs.

You can also close all other applications and then check which one could possibly causes the problem.

    Regards,

    Joanne
